Certified
organic wool, from Native Shetland sheep, grown in the Shetland Islands.
There is an increasing demand for organic wool, and with the range of natural colours from the native Shetland hill sheep and natural dyeing techniques, it is hoped that a small-scale processing unit might be developed and that would provide added value to this exceptional product. Although the flocks of organic sheep are small, there is a quantity of wool from these animals each year that is definitely being under utilised.
Natural colours, organically grown by Shetland farmers and crofters, cleaned and spun by environmentally friendly processes in certified organic mills.

Our raw organic native Shetland fleece is just that- clipped in Shetland from organic Shetland sheep. Unwashed, undyed and uncombed.
These fleeces come from a breed which has evolved over the last 5000 years in Shetland. The fleece from these Shetland native sheep is perfectly suited to the climate it is grown in. The end result really is something special, and reflects not just breed, but also diet, climate and traditional farming methods. Such a wool would be very difficult, if not impossible to produce anywhere else.
